Everyone must have heard about Samantha (Sam) Samsung till now as she took no time to impress the internet users. Within a few minutes of images leaking on Twitter and Reddit, the netizens forgot about everything and rushed to check whether this was all true or not.

The cached version of Sam, the surreal virtual assistant, is developed by a well-known design company, Lightfarm, along with Cheil agency, Samsung’s marketing agency. The Korean giant gained scads of attention ever since the images of Sam were scattered on Twitter, Tik Tok, and Reddit. Indeed, the virtual assistant is lively, and some would even say ‘Kyeopta’, which means cute in Korean. But there is no news concerning the official launch or adaptation of Samantha by Samsung.

What is the story behind Sam?

Lightfarm, a famous design & production company, designed ‘Sam’ and was accompanied by Samsung’s very own marketing vertical, Cheil agency. The concept of Sam was created to turn it into reality maybe. However, there are a few rumours that Sam would replace Bixby, Samsung’s virtual assistant, to gain more popularity than Apple’s Siri or Amazon’s Alexa.

Samantha is a young brunette, who is beautiful & smart, has ocean-coloured doe-shaped eyes, and loves to dance to the beats of music via her Samsung phone. Some Samsung maniacs called her “waifu”, which means a fictional 2D sweetheart.

Twitter, Reddit and Tik Tok’s madness

It all began when the famous design firm deleted the posts, Sam, right after uploading them. But the crazy anime fans or Samsung lovers could capture the screenshots of Sam uploaded by Lightfarm. Unmistakably, the 3D virtual assistant became an overnight sensation on social media. Look at the tweets:

Several posts were on Reddit’s 18+ pages where many hot-to-trot fans spoke about how much they desired Sam. Anime as a prop to raise Samsung smartphone’s sale

The first Anime was made in 1945, and within the following years, Anime started taking all over the world. The admiration for Anime soared after the 1970s, and according to the Japanese government’s reports, 60% of the world’s animation is in the form of Anime. This additionally heightened the fame of Japanese comics’ ‘manga’. Of course, it is an assumption, but it may be possible for Smartphone Giant to employ an Anime-looking virtual assistant for sales benefit.

Bixby: Samsung’s prevailing virtual assistant

Bixby, a voice assistant or virtual assistant by Samsung, was launched in 2017 as development in S Voice. The AI assistant works similar to Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa, Windows’ Cortana or Google assistant. Bixby can help you to perform activities, remember appointments, schedule things, and answer queries.

With Bixby, say less do more.

There is no declaration from Samsung’s side about replacing Bixby with Sam. Therefore, the chances of Bixby’s sustenance in the smartphone ecosystem are favourable.

Samantha: a reality or a rejection?

As per Polygon, Samantha is just an advertising creation of Lightfarm and nothing else. It may come out as a disappointment, but Samsung has not officially announced Sam yet. Moreover, there are no ads by Samsung to promote the alleged virtual assistant. Therefore, the fate of Samantha’s arrival in the world of tech & smartphones is unpredictable.
